Elementary Occasional Teacher list
Open to New & Upcoming Graduates
If you are already an active member on our Elementary OT list, or have completed a successful interview in the Fall and are awaiting your approval, you are not required to apply again.
Qualifications:
Must be in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers as of August 31, 2023
Must hold a minimum of one Basic Qualification of either Primary, Junior or Intermediate
On-Line Portfolio:
All applications are to be submitted through ApplytoEducation online.
Please enter as much information as possible in your on-line portfolio as this will be used for the initial screening process (i.e. personal contact information, teachable subjects including those which you are formally qualified with the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT), language skills, teaching experience including start and end dates, education history, lived experiences, etc).
Enter your OCT number in the Qualifications page of your Apply to Education (ATE) portfolio.
Upload your resume/cover letter, additional documents, teaching qualifications/licenses, diplomas/certificates, practicum reports, teaching evaluations, reference letters and transcripts.
Within your ATE portfolio:
Click on “Who Can View My Portfolio
On the right of the OCDSB, click on “Edit Preferences”, and indicate “Yes” to the question “Do you wish to be considered for occasional teaching?”
NOTE: An original Police Records Check including Vulnerable Sector Screening, dated within six months is required upon hire.
References:
You must provide two (2) professional references that are available to be contacted by phone or e-mail. They must be able to attest to your teaching abilities in the classroom. By providing us with your references, you are giving us consent to contact them at any time during this process.
Interviews:
We thank all applicants in advance for their interest; however, only those candidates selected for an interview will be contacted. If selected for an interview, you will receive an email including the interview date/time, location and process details. Interviews are expected to take place in March/April 2023.
