1.0 FTE Continuing Teacher Counsellor

Kumsheen ShchEma-meet School is a K-12 School situated in the rural community of Lytton in the

Nlaka'pamux nation. Kumsheen ShchEma-meet School enrolls approximately 90 students in Grades K through 12, of which 98% are of Indigenous ancestry. The school’s Action Plan for Learning outlines the learning the staff is engaged in this year to continue to improve the learning experience for each student at Kumsheen ShchEma-meet School.


The successful applicant must be eligible for membership in the BC College of Teachers, and possess:

• A Masters degree in Counselling Psychology or equivalent.

• Experience teaching and co-teaching social and emotional programs/strategies.

• Experience supporting youth at risk.

• Experience working with families.

• Creative and innovative teaching strategies that meet the needs of each learner.

• Proven track record of working with Indigenous students and their families.

• Strong communication skills and demonstrated compassion.

• The ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and the greater community.

• Successful experience establishing professional boundaries.

• A current, valid driver’s license and ability and willingness to travel as required.
