BOARD CERTIFIED BEHAVIOUR ANALYST

Temporary, Full-Time

The Chilliwack School District is seeking applications for the excluded position of Board Certified Behaviour Analyst. Reporting to the District Principal, Student Services, the successful applicant will be responsible for applying principles of behavioral psychology to support students in overcoming social, emotional and behavioral challenges that represent barriers to their academic success and sense of belonging at school. The BCBA will join the ACCESS Student Services team, to provide district and school level support for students with complex learning needs and difficulty self-regulating physically aggressive behaviour. The BCBA will conduct functional behaviour assessments, support the design and implementation of behaviour support plans, and assist with site-specific safety training for school personnel. The BCBA is a member of the dynamic team providing support and guidance within the Chilliwack School District.

THE POSITION

The Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA) will be responsible for the following:

assists with the development, monitoring, and implementation of Individual behaviour supports plans for students with social, emotional, and behavioral needs

provides consultation to school personnel in developing and implementing effective interventions for students with social, emotional, and behavioral needs

provides consultation to school personnel in developing and implementing effective interventions for students with behaviour challenges

advocates for community support services as appropriate

collaborates with classroom teachers, community partners and parents/guardians to support students’ social, emotional, and behavioral needs

consults and collaborates with Child Youth Care Workers (CYCW), Education Assistants (EA)

assists in the development, monitoring, and implementation of Employee Safety Plans where appropriate

provides educational leadership in areas of individual expertise

provides training and in-service to school and district staff (e.g. paraprofessionals, teachers, and principals/vice principals, etc.)

participation at district committees

demonstrates strong organizational skills

willingness to be involved in professional development with an ongoing commitment to learn and implement new methodologies and strategies.

demonstrates ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, and staff to support student success

THE APPLICANT

Preference will be given to applicants who possess:

a Master’s degree in Inclusive or Special Education/Social Work/Psychology/Behaviour Analysis or equivalent (ie Counselling Psychology)

three to five years’ experience in as a BCBA

training/experience in social, emotional, and behavioral support

working knowledge of behaviour intervention strategies (i.e. functional behaviour assessment, functional analysis, positive behavioral support planning).

proven conflict resolution skill

strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills

effective organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, work independently, and manage a fast-paced environment

the ability to work with large data bases and to analyze numerical data
