After a tumultuous year, it’s time to prepare for September.

What does school start-up look like when there has been so much disruption? What social-emotional issues do you need to consider? What will you attend to and prioritize in your first few weeks? This workshop will answer these questions and more.

Whether you’re returning in person or online, it’s important to reflect on the past year to understand how it has affected you, your students and your colleagues. You have likely dealt with stress and uncertainty, and may have concerns about what comes next.

This workshop will build your confidence by providing insights into your students’ mindsets, reinvigorating your energy and teaching practical strategies for dealing with issues that may arise. As an educator, your first duty is to foster a culture of care. Now, more than ever, that begins with compassion and a trauma-sensitive approach.

After this workshop, you will:

  • Understand the need for self-care for effective teaching and learning.
  • Recognize the importance of relationship in creating a culture of care for student well-being.
  • Build a strong emotional tool kit to prepare for school start-up.
  • Identify and prioritize the current needs of your students as they return to school.
  • Feel increased confidence communicating with your school community.
  • Be inspired and refreshed for the year ahead.

This event is for any school staff who are getting ready to start school in September, 2021. Attendees will receive an eBook, which will include resources and tools to support a smooth school start-up. You will also receive a certificate of completion.
