Hiring is the entry-way to your organization’s workforce. As such, the process should be well-planned and strategically constructed so that your efforts to attract, understand and select diverse candidates are maximized. This workshop will de-mystify what it means to hire for diversity and will provide participants with a better understanding of relevant research, theory and hands-on tools that can support them in building a strong selection process.

Janet is an experienced educator with over 20 years experience as a senior leader. She has worked in roles at the school, district and provincial levels within the British Columbia public education sector. During this time, she oversaw many large recruitment and selection efforts including while leading Make a Future –a British Columbia initiative focused on improving provincial K-12 labour market conditions – and facilitating many Boards of Education senior executive search processes. In 2020, she founded EduSelect Services to support school districts across Canada with human resource matters. Her book, Hiring Well: Building Strong Selection Practices in K-12 was published in April 2021. In addition to her Masters in Adult Education, Janet has a completed training in conflict resolution, negotiations, and organizational development and she has her coaching certification with the International Coaching Federation.
