“When I think pre-ATE, I think of Google folders,” says Byron Lawson, Trinity Prep’s Head of School. “We were tracking applicants using Word documents – things got lost in translation.”

Lawson said that their recruitment and hiring was complex. It included division heads, a director of curriculum, a business office assistant and two headhunters. Because so many people were involved, keeping accurate records was difficult and data that was captured the previous year was not easily accessible.

In addition to the cost of time spent by the school’s staff, Lawson says that the school had to pay fees for the headhunters to find and match candidates, which were drawn from limited databases.

Because of the complexity of their system, they were not able to devote their time to finding the most diverse and fitting candidates for the role, and had to start from scratch every year.
