Kativik Ilisarniliriniq is a school board offering educational services in the 14 communities of Nunavik.

 

FUNCTION & DUTIES:

Under the supervision of the Coordinator for Complementary Services, the role of the Psychologist is to analyze, document and intervene in the socio affective needs of students.  The Psychologist will be expected to work closely with the Regional and Local Student Counselors, PSD Counselor and School Administrators regarding students who have emotional and behavior problems.

 

  • In collaboration with student counselors, meet with students individually and in groups to assess mental wellness.
  • Respond to children at risk in the socio affective domain and plan interventions in order to diminish that risk.
  • Refer students to the appropriate persons as well as to specialized institutions as required.
  • Under the direction of training and research department provide on-going training and mentoring of local student counselors.
  • Collaborate on a regular basis with the special education counselors concerning students.
  • Work in conjunction with student counselors to plan prevention activities in terms of violence, substance and other forms of abuse.
  • Document interventions with specific students in a confidential file and send copies to the central office (confidential file).
  • Work with teachers and administrators to help find solutions for specific problems.
  • When requested offer workshops in the socio affective domain to employees of the school board.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • First level University Degree in a relevant specialization.
  • Be a member of the "Ordre des psychologues du Québec".

 

The Board may, at its discretion, waive any or all of the aforementioned qualifications if it finds a suitable candidate who is a beneficiary of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement (JBNQA) and who accepts, as a condition of employment, to follow a training plan determined by the Board.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

Bilingualism (French, English)

 

CLASSIFICATION / SALARY / BENEFITS:

In accordance with the SPPOM collective agreement for professionals: from $­­­­­46,836 to $88,805 annually depending on qualification and experience, as well as a labour shortage premium (20% of salary).

 

In addition to salary, you may be eligible to other benefits such as:
