 Why should I register with Make a Future - Careers in BC Education? |
Make a Future - Careers in BC Education is a one-stop shop recruitment portal for jobs in the BC education sector. A joint venture between the BC Ministry of Education, the 60 public school districts, and the BC Public School Employers’ Association, the website offers job seekers access to job advertisements in the 60 school districts, information on how to find employment in the education sector, and also information about the 60 school districts and a portrait of BC’s regions and the communities that reside within them. Registering with Make a Future - Careers in BC Education gives you access to this valuable information, and also allows you to e-courier any job applications to School Districts within BC, if you choose.
Please note, however, that you also have the option of applying to School Districts directly in another format that is explained on each job posting. While there is no charge to register with Make a Future - Careers in BC Education or to view the job postings on the site, if you choose to use the e-courier service, you will be charged a minimal amount as described below.

 What does e-couriering my application through Make a Future - Careers in BC Education entail?

When you e-courier your application though Make a Future - Careers in BC Education your application portfolio is electronically sent to the School Districts you select. You only need to create one online application and you can use it to apply to multiple job postings and School Districts.

 Is there a fee to use Make a Future - Careers in BC Education?
|
There is no fee to register with Make a Future - Careers in BC Education or to create your application portfolio. You will be able to view all the job postings on the site as well as create email job alerts free of charge.
E-couriering your application portfolio to unlimited jobs with one School Board costs $10 per year. The e-courier fee goes to our partner, applytoeducation, a private company that hosts our job postings and provides the technology behind the e-courier service. Neither the School Districts, the Ministry of Education, nor Make a Future – Careers in BC Education receives any portion of this payment.
If you do not want to use the e-courier service, there are other ways to apply for jobs, and instructions on how to do so are written on each job posting. Applications received by e-courier do not receive preferential treatment by School Districts, as compared to applications received by other means.

 How do I create an online application portfolio?
|
Once you have registered with Make a Future - Careers in BC Education, you have a number of options. You will be directed to the ‘Purchase Credits’ page, where you can choose the School Districts to which you want to e-courier your application. You can purchase credits at any time so feel free to skip this section if you want to fill out other sections of your application.
Complete the sections in the Portfolio menu. At any time you can review how your application looks by clicking ‘Review Portfolio’.

School Districts use Make a Future - Careers in BC Education to receive, store and manage applications electronically.
All School Districts on Make a Future - Careers in BC Education offer at least one alternative way to receive applications other than using the e-courier service. Please review each advertisement and School District website to determine their alternative(s). Please only apply to School Districts using one method.

 How do I search for jobs and create job alerts on Make a Future - Careers in BC Education?

To perform a job search, click “Find a Job”. You may search by keyword, job type and postal code locator. Searches can be further refined by region and School District.
If you would like to sign up for job alerts you must be a registered user. Once you have set up your account on the “Find a Job” page, you can click ‘yes’ to be emailed jobs that match the search criteria you have set.

 What does “Powered by applytoeducation” mean?
|
applytoeducation is a private company that hosts our job site and provides the technology behind the website and e-courier service.
This means that applicants who have already created an account on the applytoeducation website can use their ‘username’ and ‘password’ to log into Make a Future - Careers in BC Education (and vice-versa). The BC public school postings available on Make a Future – Careers in BC Education are the same as those BC jobs on the applytoeducation website.
